Sunset of Blog

Yep - its been a great time, but I am moving on to new things.

This blog was created while working a 40 hour week and started as a way to model and also explore and discover the tools and the processes for educational administrators to use for getting connected via a blog with their stakeholders or communities.

With moving on to next life stages my blog topics and work will be different, so I am sunsetting this blog and will no longer be posting to it. Starting new and fresh seem to be in order.

Beginning in January 2015 I will start Digital Mustard as a Wordpress.com blog in an open course called DS106.

You can still connect with me (and I hope you will!)

Thanks again - see you on the interwebs!

Who has a Fish! story to Share?

I find I have time to read for enjoyment again, but still focusing on professional reading.

Re-read FISH! today. An oldie, but goodie. While I first read this almost 15 years ago - it still makes sense and I think I put into action the pieces. It almost mirrors what I am feeling going through my rookie stages of retirement. Take time and focus and don't sweat the small stuff. The four parts of Fish! still make sense and seeing leadership teams in education and business right now - the lessons are still relevant.

As a leader/educator do you?:
  • Choose Your Attitude and help your staff and students do the same.
  • Play! - so important! Play needs to be added to the work and the time around the work. Work hard - but play hard too.
  • Make their Day - So simple and so powerful.
  • Be Present - So Important! For every interaction - staff to staff, staff to student/client.
Work and school is much of our lives - live it to the fullest and eliminate the toxic environments and the rest will begin to come together.
